Before and afters
(Rec.709 vs Cinecell 02)
The node tree
Cinecell 02 includes all of the basics like primary nodes and a CST node making it compatible with any camera profile.
What sets Cinecell 02 apart from it’s predecessor is the new look LUT. Providing my personal favorite color split tone that gives your footage a beautiful cinematic and moody film look that’s extremely versatile. It looks immaculate outdoors, indoors, blue hour, golden hour, close ups, wide shots… you get the idea.
Don’t use DaVinci?
Cinecell 02 comes with a library of LUT’s that you can use with Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro etc.
Please note that without DaVinci you will be losing out on the OFX nodes, Density node, and Mixer node. While you will still be able to get that nice filmic split toning look without DaVinci, you won’t be able to use the powergrade to it’s fullest potential.
Film emulation
Inside the compound node you’ll find your film emulation essentials already set up and ready to go. Obviously you can customize them to your own preference just as easily.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. The CST node at the very beginning of the node tree is used to bring any camera profile into DaVinci Wide Gamut Intermediate. This essentially just brings you camera’s footage into a much wider colorspace allowing you to play around.
-
That is due to the film compound node. To access the OFX used in the film node, you do need to have the studio version of DaVinci Resolve. This doesn’t mean you can’t use the powergrade, it just means you’ll have to find another method to add those film emulation OFX or purchase the studio version of Resolve.

Cinecell 02 is an accumulation of an entire years worth of improvement in my (Sleepy Charlie’s) knowledge, experience and taste since Cinecell 01’s release. Cincecell 02 provides a much more finessed and refined color palette as well as a more realistic approach to this classic look. Cincell 01 may be fantastic for Instagram reels, but 02 is made for movies.

-
As long as your editing software accepts LUT’s then Cinecell 02 will work. (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Etc.) However you will not be able to use the OFX (grain, halation, etc.) outside of DaVinci Resolve.
